Word to PDF / Guide
Why Word to PDF Changes Fonts or Page Layout
A PDF can open correctly and still look different from the Word source. Rendering a document on another computer or in another editor can change font metrics, page size or object positioning. Filezunio uses LibreOffice to render DOCX files. These checks help you find the cause before sharing the result.
1. Check the original font first
If a document font is not available on the server, a replacement may be used. Different character widths can change line wrapping, moving a paragraph or table onto another page. Compare a heading and a long paragraph side by side with the source. If exact visual matching is essential, try exporting to PDF from your own Word editor on the computer with the original fonts installed.
2. Compare page size and margins
A4 versus Letter paper, section-specific margins and page-break settings can affect page count. Review each section in the Word source. Rather than adding empty paragraphs to force positioning, use deliberate page breaks where appropriate. Save a DOCX copy and compare the new PDF while keeping the original unchanged.
3. Inspect tables and images separately
Wide tables, merged cells and floating images may move when another editor renders them. Check that rows are complete, cell text is readable and pictures remain on the intended pages. A simpler copy of a complex source layout can be easier to share, but review the result rather than assuming every layout issue has been solved.
4. Test accented characters and selectable text
Check characters such as Ç, Ğ, İ, Ö, Ş, Ü and ı visually, then copy a sentence from the PDF. Opening a file alone does not confirm that text exported correctly. Our downloadable sample includes three pages, a table and an image. Its successful conversion demonstrates that example, not a guarantee for every document.
5. Separate conversion failure from layout differences
If the service is busy or the request limit is reached, wait before trying again. Damaged, encrypted or externally linked DOCX documents can be rejected. Renaming an unsupported file to .docx does not fix it. Save older .doc files as DOCX in your editor, and keep your input under the 15 MB limit.
Before you share the PDF
- Are page count and page breaks correct?
- Are headings, accented characters and long paragraphs readable?
- Are tables and images complete?
- Can you select and copy the text?
- Have you kept the original DOCX?
